An Altered Birdhouse - Harmonie

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a little birdhouse I altered. When I saw this wooden birdhouse, I immediately thought of this pp from the "Blizzard" collection (LOVE that line!!!) - it has the same shape and I knew they'd work well together. I covered 3 of the walls with the matching pp, and the roof I covered with the pp that I punched with my Martha Stewart border punch. I added pp on the bottom too. The front I covered with crackle paint - I mixed red and white for the effect. First I sprayed it with red glimmer mist. When I was done, I added stickles and diamond dust to mimic snow and ice. I also added Maya Road chipboard snowflakes.

Also, make sure you check out the Harmonie website for a sneak peek of their 2 new lines! Soooo cute, can't wait to get them!

First official Scrapmatts LO's!

I know I've been missing for a little while, but I've been busy scrapping. I have lots of LO's made, but today I will share 5, that I made for Scrapmatts.

The first one is "By The Pool", using G45 pp and some adorable trees and shells by Scrapmatts. The shells I sprayed with glimmer mist and the trees I covered with an ink chalk pad in 2 colors - a bronze and a sea blue.

Next up is "You Go Girl!". I painted the balloon white with acrylic paint - if you do this, try to keep the paint layer thin so the laser-cut design still shows through. The butterflies, I covered with ink chalk and finished off with crackle medium...isn't it a cool effect? The pp is Sassafras.

Next is "Imagination", again using G45 pp. Here' I left the chipboard raw, which is sometimes a nice effect too, adding some stickles to the butterflies. The lamp already came in black, and I added pp for the yellow light.

Another Sassafras LO - "How Much"...How much is too much? My DH took this pic to prove he was doing the sunblock right...LOL. I colored the kite with chalk ink and then with crackle medium again - the medium really brings out the brighter colors.

And last, another G45 LO about me! LOL At the bottom right, I used the frame as a mask and sprayed over it with blak Maya Road mist, and then I used it on the LO - these chipboard shapes make the perfect masks, and that way you can get eve more use out of them.

I'll be back soon to share a few more projects!

My Girl - another acrylic mini!

I blogged on the 3Birds blog today:

I wanted to do something fun with all the super cute 3Birds supplies I have, so I decided to make a clear mini. These are easier than they might seem, and it's actually fun trying to disguise things on the backside. I have wanted to scrap these pics of DD for a long time now, and I finally decided to do it! All the sparkly stuff 3Birds makes was just perfect.

Beach Fun

Ok, in my mission to incorporate more paint and other fun stuff, I created this. I have a really cool medium that has the tiniest glass balls in it, which actually mimics sand really well. I used my acrylic paint to color it a sand color, as well as to add lots of yellow. I wanted it to be a bright and happy LO. Yep, I'm still working on our vacation album from our Dominican vacation in April 2010.

The pp is Webster's Pages, of course ;) The really cute stickers (water drops and the bright thingy you blow on...forget what it's called) are by 3Birds. And, of course, I'm using a ton of Scrapmatts laser-cut chipboard shapes here. These are brand new sea shapes for summer (since it's summer in Australia right now!). Sophie is an absolute genius and she designed these. Can you tell how much I love being on their DT? I'm never leaving, they'll have to escort me out under armed guard! LOL Anyways, some of the shapes I left bare and some I colored with glimmer mist - so so easy. I've also been coloring them with my ink pads a lot. Takes 2 seconds. The word "Fun" is also Scrapmatts.

Anyhoo, thanks for looking...let me know what you think of my attempts to step outside the box :)
